What Were They Thinking: DC Comics Changing Wonder Woman's Costume

Seriously, what was DC Comics thinking when they decided to change Wonder Woman's iconic suit (above) to the new less than heroic version (below)? As a comic book fan and a fashion-forward kind of girl, I really don't see how putting WW in the new suit is going to generate new sales as well as new fans.
